Frequently asked questions
What is PSBAR?
The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, the UK law that requires public-sector websites and apps to meet accessibility standards and publish an accessibility statement explaining their compliance position.
Which WCAG version does the template target?
WCAG 2.2 AA, the current standard for UK public-sector digital services following the May 2024 uplift from 2.1. The statement generated reflects 2.2 success criteria and the specific wording required by GDS guidance.
Who is obliged to publish an accessibility statement?
Local councils, NHS trusts, central government departments and their arm's-length bodies, universities and further-education colleges receiving public funding, and other bodies governed by public law as defined in the Regulations.
Does this tool audit my site for accessibility issues?
No, it generates the statement itself. A proper accessibility audit requires manual and automated testing against WCAG 2.2 AA. Alvento runs paid audits for registries and professional bodies that have outgrown self-assessment.
